Santa Monica Proper Hotel: Where Coastal Beauty Meets Artistic Design by Kelly Wearstler

As a Los Angeles interior designer, I've always been drawn to the synergy between location and design. Santa Monica, with its breathtaking sunsets and the calming sound of the waves, has a special place in my heart. Today, I'm excited to introduce you to a place that effortlessly captures this harmony: the Santa Monica Proper Hotel. Nestled in the heart of Santa Monica, it's a masterpiece of design by the talented Kelly Wearstler.

Textured Elegance and Organic Beauty

One of the remarkable qualities of the Santa Monica Proper Hotel is its celebration of textures and organic elements. Kelly Wearstler, a true artisan in the world of interior design, has woven a story of coastal elegance using a rich tapestry of textures. From the moment you step into the lobby, you're enveloped by a sense of calm and serenity. The earthy neutrals and the interplay of materials create a sense of timelessness, making you feel as if you've stepped into a place where artistry knows no bounds. The interiors, characterized by their exquisite craftsmanship, exude a feeling of comfort and luxury. Each piece of furniture and decor is a work of art in itself. It's a reminder of the immense talent of artisans who have contributed their skills to make this place a true design gem.

A Place for Art and Inspiration

The Santa Monica Proper Hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a canvas for artistic expression. The carefully curated artwork gracing its walls tells a story of creativity and innovation. As an interior designer, I find that these artistic touches are not only pleasing to the eye but also a source of endless inspiration. It's a testament to the idea that design is not just about aesthetics but also about evoking emotions and sparking creativity.

Sunset, Dining, and More

One of the great pleasures of the Proper Hotel is its proximity to the stunning sunsets that Santa Monica is known for. The rooftop provides an unparalleled view of the sun dipping below the Pacific horizon. It's a perfect setting for a romantic dinner or a relaxed evening with friends. If you're looking for a place to unwind after a long day, the Santa Monica Proper Hotel's rooftop bar is an excellent choice for sunset drinks.

For those who, like me, often find inspiration in the world around them, the hotel's lobby is a cozy and inviting space to work. The combination of natural light, artistic elements, and comfortable seating makes it a haven for creativity.

Lobby Lounging

Throughout the day, from early morning until late at night, the lobby lounge offers a relaxed menu featuring a variety of snacks and small bites. These delectable options are perfect companions for our expertly crafted cocktails, an extensive selection of tequilas and mezcals, and a delightful array of natural wines.

One of our favorite local spots in Los Angeles, where we endulge in dining, sipping beverages, and getting some work done remotely. Palma

The Santa Monica Proper Hotel is a celebration of design, textures, and artistry. It's an homage to the organic beauty of Santa Monica, and a reminder that the best designs are those that are deeply rooted in their surroundings. As I strive to build a successful interior design firm and continue my journey in this field, places like the Santa Monica Proper Hotel inspire me to create spaces that evoke emotions and stand as works of art in their own right.

If you're a design enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of nature and the art of design, the Santa Monica Proper Hotel is a must-visit. It's a testament to the magic that can happen when great design and a stunning location come together seamlessly.

Here's to a life filled with textures, art, and endless inspiration.
